Look to me, and be you saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

– Isaiah 45:22

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

From God’s words, we can see that only God is our reliance. Look to God, and we will be saved. If we have a place for God in our hearts and honor God as great, we will be after His heart. However, we always think that the pastors and elders, who are eloquent and gifted and familiar with the Bible, have life and that they are pleasing to God. Some people even see them as higher than God. When something happens to us, we don’t seek God’s will in prayer but go to the pastors and elders we worship and look up to and ask advice from them. Regardless of whether their words accord with truth, God’s will and demands, we obey their every word. There is no place for God in our hearts, and we even don’t know what we have done is detested by God. For example, when the Lord Jesus came to earth to do the work of redemption, the Jewish people only had a place for Pharisees in their hearts. They followed the Pharisees’ words to resist and condemn the Lord Jesus and even nail Him to the cross, committed a heinous crime and were cursed and punished by God. The failure of the Jews’ belief in God is worthy of our deep reflection and worthy being taken as a grave warning. From this we can see, we should have a place for God in our hearts, rely on God and look to Him in all things in order to obtain His praise. God says, “People who believe in God should obey God and worship Him. You should not exalt or look up to any person; you ought not to give first place to God, second place to the people you look up to, and third place to yourself. No person should hold a place in your heart, and you should not consider people—particularly those you venerate—to be on a par with God, to be His equal. This is intolerable to God.
