Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.

– Philippians 2:5

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

This verse reminds me that I should take God’s heart as my own whether in daily association with brothers and sisters or coordination in service in the church.

God hopes that brothers and sisters can get along well with each other. For example, when brothers and sisters encounter hardships, we should communicate God’s will to help them through adversity so that they can stand witness for God. Only this will please God. However, recalling my interacting with brothers and sisters, sometimes they sought help from me when they had problems at work, at first I could help them with a loving heart. But when they asked me again, I would think they are of poor caliber and looked down upon them even if I answered their questions. Only when Jesus’ words, “And whoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted” (Matthew 23:12), came to my mind did I realize that it was my corrupt disposition of self-rightness and self-importance that caused me to look down upon others. Jesus asks us to humble ourselves, but what I did is totally against His teaching. Another passage of God’s words say, “God lifts the needy from dust, where the humble are made high. I will use My wisdom in all its forms to govern the universal church, to govern all nations and all peoples, so that they are all within Me, and so that all of you in the church might submit to Me. Those who did not obey before must now be obedient before Me, must submit to each other, accept each other, have interconnected lives, and love one another, all drawing on others’ strong points to offset their own weaknesses, serving in coordination. In this way will the church be built, and Satan will have no opportunity to exploit. Only then will My management plan not have failed.” These words tell us that God wants brothers and sisters to help each other and use each other’s strengths to make up for their weak points. Everyone is different in caliber. Only when we serve in coordination and do a good job can we be after God’s heart. I then prayed to God that I was willing to change mindset, correctly treat everyone’s deficiencies, and voluntarily help brothers and sisters when they have problems, and perform my function!
