Can Christians Who Have Been Dead Gain Eternal Life?

Hello Sister Lu Xin,

Recently I have read much of the word expressed by Almighty God, and I have seen that this word carries authority and power, and reveals many of the mysteries of God’s work, and I am certain that Almighty God is the returned Lord Jesus. I understand that only by accepting God’s judgment of the last days can I enter the kingdom of heaven, but I am also confused. We live in the last days, and are fortunate to be able to accept God’s work of the last days, but many religious believers have already passed away, and were unable to accept God’s work of the last days. Are they able to enter the kingdom of heaven and gain eternal life? I would like to know your views on this question. I look forward to your answer!

Sincerely yours,

Han Xiao

Hello Sister Han Xiao,

With regard to the question raised in your letter about whether religious believers who have passed away can enter the kingdom of heaven and gain eternal life, we can perhaps gain some understanding by seeking answers in the words of Almighty God, and I hope that God will guide my fellowship below.

The Lord Jesus was crucified for us, which redeemed us from a state of sin and saved us from being condemned by the laws, but our corrupt dispositions, such as arrogance, self-importance, selfishness, greed, craftiness, and deception still exist within us. If we don’t resolve these corrupt satanic dispositions, we will often sin and resist God, judge and condemn God according to our own notions and imaginings, deny God when oppression and tribulations befall us, and even become Judases and betray God. Like this, how can we be compatible with God and gain God’s approval? The Bible says, “You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy” (Leviticus 11:45). Because God is holy, we must escape from evil and be purified before we can enter the kingdom of heaven and gain eternal life.

Lord Jesus was crucified for us, which redeemed us from a state of sin

The word of Almighty God says: “The sins of man were forgiven, and this is because of the work of God’s crucifixion, but man continued to live within the corrupt satanic disposition of old. This being so, man must be completely saved from his corrupt satanic disposition, so that his sinful nature may be completely extirpated, never to develop again, thus enabling the disposition of man to be transformed. This would require man to grasp the path of growth in life, to grasp the way of life, and to grasp the way to change his disposition. Furthermore, it would require man to act in accordance with this path, so that his disposition may gradually be changed and he may live under the shining of the light, so that all that he does may be in accord with the will of God, so that he may cast away his corrupt satanic disposition, and so that he may break free from Satan’s influence of darkness, thereby emerging fully from sin. Only then will man receive complete salvation. … Therefore, after that stage of work was finished, there still remained the work of judgment and chastisement. This stage is to make man pure by means of the word and thereby give him a path to follow.

God’s word states very clearly that in the Age of Grace, the Lord Jesus only did the work of redemption, and although we are redeemed for our sins by believing in Him, our sinful natures remain unresolved, so we are still capable of sinning and resisting God against our will. In the Age of Grace, no matter how devout believers were, or how determined they were to suffer and pay a price, even if they could overcome their bodies, they couldn’t overcome their satanic dispositions, which is why those religious believers who passed away couldn’t escape a life of sinning and confessing. This is why, if we want to achieve dispositional change in our lives, we must experience God’s judgment, chastisement, pruning, dealing, trials, and refinement before our satanic natures can be completely resolved. The devout Christians who passed away never experienced God’s judgment and chastisement of the last days, and their sins were never purified, so they cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.

We might think that those religious believers who passed away before Almighty God began the work of judgment in the last days also forsook, expended, suffered, and worked hard, and if they cannot enter the kingdom of heaven and gain eternal life, it would be deeply regrettable. But God is righteous, and He has plans for those who died in His name. The Lord Jesus said: “All that the Father gives me shall come to me; and him that comes to me I will in no wise cast out. … And this is the Father’s will which has sent me, that of all which he has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day (John 6: 37, 39). Almighty God says, “When God does the final stage of His work during the last days, these chosen people will all come. When they all come, this will be the last time that they are reincarnated. And why is that? This is based on the outcome to be achieved during God’s last stage of work—for during this last stage of work, God will make these chosen people entirely complete.” From God’s word, we can see that God will not abandon those who truly followed Him. Even though such people have left this world, their departure is only temporary. God will arrange for those religious believers who genuinely expended for God and loved and yearned for the truth before God began His work of judgment in the last days to be reborn. He will arrange suitable families for them, and then at the preordained time, will call them back through all kinds of environments, allow them to accept God’s judgment work of the last days, pursue the truth, escape the sinfulness within them, and finally achieve dispositional change and enter the kingdom of heaven. As the Lord Jesus said: “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14: 3).

Let’s read another passage of God’s word, “Christ is man’s gateway to the kingdom during the last days, which none may bypass. None may be perfected by God except through Christ. You believe in God, and so you must accept His words and obey His way. You must not just think of gaining blessings without receiving the truth, or accepting the provision of life. Christ comes during the last days so that all those who truly believe in Him may be provided with life. His work is for the sake of concluding the old age and entering the new one, and is the path that must be taken by all those who would enter the new age.

Christ of the last days is the gate by which we enter the kingdom of heaven. Without experiencing the work of judgment done by Christ of the last days, we cannot be purified or perfected, and even less can we enter God’s kingdom and gain eternal life. Those believers who passed away before God began His work of judgment in the last days who can accept and obey God’s judgment and chastisement, gain the truth, escape their corruption, and be purified will be brought into the kingdom by God, where they will enjoy God’s blessings for man. But those who do not accept the truth and cannot obey God’s judgment and chastisement are targets for elimination by God, and those who do wickedness will be punished. This is God’s righteous disposition.

Sister Han Xiao, the fellowship above is my understanding of this question. If you have any further questions, I welcome you to continue this discussion by letter.

Sincerely yours,

Lu Xin
